In a 2000 study, only 23% of observers noticed a student wearing an embarrassing t-shirt, though the wearer predicted 50% would.
Researchers had college students wear a shirt featuring a prominent pop singer before entering a room of peers. While the wearers felt highly conspicuous, the vast majority of people in the room did not even register the shirt.
