perception
You believe your inner emotions are visible to others.
A 1998 study showed that speakers overestimate how much their nervousness is detectable by their audience.
Participants who lied or felt anxious believed their internal states were obvious to observers. In reality, the audience was largely unaware of these internal cues. We project our inner lives outward, assuming others have access to our experience.
You carry your anxiety as if it were a billboard.
