A 2013 study found that people consistently underestimate how much their personality, values, and preferences will change in the next decade.
Researchers surveyed over 19,000 adults. They compared how much people expected to change with how much those who were already ten years older had actually changed. Respondents across all ages consistently expected their future selves to be static compared to their past selves.
