Outgroup homogeneity is the tendency to see individuals in other groups as having fewer unique traits than people in your own group.

You are intimately aware of the nuances and differences among your friends, but you categorize outsiders using broad, flat stereotypes. This happens because you have limited exposure to the internal diversity of other social circles.

You fail to see the individual because you are only looking at the label.
