morality
You are more likely to lie when you feel moral.
Mazar and Zhong (2010) found that individuals who performed or recalled virtuous actions, such as buying eco-friendly products, were subsequently more likely to cheat, a phenomenon termed moral licensing.
The mechanism is moral licensing based on prior moral behavior, not the expression of high moral certainty.
Your sense of integrity is often your biggest blind spot.
