incompetence
You overestimate your own competence when you are ignorant.
A 1999 study found that low-performers consistently rate their abilities as above average.
When you lack the skills to complete a task, you also lack the skills to recognize your incompetence. This results in an inability to perceive the gap between your performance and the actual objective standard.
You lack the very skill needed to critique yourself.
