cognitive load

You lose cognitive precision when performing two tasks simultaneously.

Cognitive load theory shows that your working memory has a limited capacity for information processing.

When you try to solve a complex problem while holding unrelated information, your performance on both decreases. Because working memory is limited, it cannot maintain multiple high-demand tasks at once without creating errors. The brain compensates by ignoring non-essential data.

Simplicity is a requirement for high-level thinking.
