curiosity
Curiosity is the physical feeling of a missing piece.
A 1994 analysis defined curiosity as a 'cognitively induced deprivation' triggered by the awareness of a gap in one's knowledge.
The theory is titled the 'Information Gap Theory,' not a theory of cognitive dissonance; the author uses the latter only as a point of comparison for the resulting motivational state.
You are not looking for facts; you are looking for closure.
